Thoughts on Transition and Stability

From Loren Easter, CILTA President:

Transition equates to change and change means challenge. Our founding participants (all of you) drove transition from a determined group WISHING to accomplish “more singletrack trails for Springfield” to the fledgling Central Illinois Trails Association WORKING to accomplish the same. Throughout those opening months we shared ideas and insights on what it would take to be successful in this mission.

The duly elected executive board will have its second meeting on Monday, April 8, 2013. Board actions have accomplished CILTA as a state not-for-profit corporation; applied to accomplish federal not-for-profit status through affiliation; established dues (based on the IMBA federal not-for-profit model); and initiated website development…in its first two months! I am personally very thankful…cause I want more singletrack!

This would go on for pages if I detailed the challenges of our transition to an effective organization: norming within our elected board, developing a strategic vision for CILTA, and most importantly – engaging like minded trail enthusiasts and securing them as CILTA members. Folks, we are steadily building for a long term affect in our community. I ask you to get involved, stay involved, and look forward to what we can accomplish in our collective future. I guarantee the potential is here for great local opportunities if we work together!
