IMBA members volunteer more than 800,000 hours of trail building each year.

CILTA work efforts are now a part of that total. Great job!

1. Idea

·         Discover place for new trail

·         Put idea on paper

·         Find or start mtb group to work through

·         Organize idea for presentation

2. Plan

·         Map your proposed trail

·         Get community support

·         Present idea to land manager

·         Get permission from land manager

3. Design

·         Study landscape’s opportunities & limitations

·         Rough-flag trail corridor

·         Volunteers, pro trail builders, or both?

·         Identify other required resources

4. Review

·         Work with land manager to ok final trail

·         Make sure neighbors are cool with it

·         Get necessary permits & tools

·         Organize & advertise trail work days

5. Build

·         Pin flag specific trail route

·         Build with volunteers, pros or both

·         Signs, parking, trailhead kiosk, etc.

·         Fun stuff! Ribbon cutting! Party! Ride!

6. Maintain

·         Make sure the trail stays in good, rideable condition

·         Schedule maintenance

·         Volunteer days as needed
